While the film industry has come to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our film What Are You Doing New Year’s? is already in post-production, primed for a December 2020 release.
Money Q&A has highlighted some great WeFunder.com projects on its website, but “What Are You Doing New Year’s?” is a feature film that offers something unique in its investment, as it’s finished principal photography, and is already deep in post-production. This gives investors the unique opportunity to invest in a film near completion, but still have an impact on its final product.
People still have the opportunity to invest in a film that is so very close to being complete and will likely be able to reap the benefits of the investment much quicker than films earlier in their development. Especially in these uncharted waters during the COVID-19 pandemic, an investment in a film near completion could be appealing to anyone still looking to do business from the comfort of their own home.
“What Are You Doing New Year’s?” is a romantic comedy set during the holidays — sort of When Harry Met Sally meets an annual Christmas party. A smart, fun, comedic film will ideally be what audiences, sales agents, and buyers will be looking for after these unprecedented times are over.
We’ve already raised upwards of $90K on WeFunder and have a few more weeks left in our campaign. In this time more than ever, we believe a comedic, heartwarming film like this is needed. Beyond that, it’s place in the holiday marketplace makes it a viable investment for people interested in a low impact introduction to the film.
If you invest through WeFunder, we offer a number of exciting perks such as tickets to screenings all the way up to an executive producer credit. To learn more about the film, and it’s investment terms visit: wefunder.com/whatareyoudoingnewyears.

The Holiday Movie Marketplace
This last year saw continued growth in the already booming industry of Christmas programming. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Whatever the limit is to the audience’s appetite for holiday movies, it apparently hasn’t been reached yet.” Because of the seasonal nature, audiences dependably rely on films like ours annually.
Statista.com stated that 60% of families watch at least one Christmas movie together, and FOX Business found that “While Hallmark has been the largest maker of seasonally themed programming, a number of other networks and streaming services have started churning out more Christmas-inspired specials and movies.”

A Note from Hank…
I think it’s such a cool idea to invest money in a movie. And, now it’s a reality for investors! Not just any feature film — a Christmas movie to raise funds through equity crowdfunding.
If you’re interested in passive income and movies, now you can enjoy the two together. Equity crowdfunding is like Kickstarter but instead of getting a t-shirt for your money, you own a piece of the movie and earn an income from its profits!
