I was recently interviewed on KGO 810AM San Francisco. This was my first interview talking about money matters and consumer savings tips.
I was interviewed about the article that I wrote detailing how to save money on my moving expenses.
Ten Ways To Cut Costs On Moving Expenses
Moving from one home to another or into your next apartment is expensive. But, there are many moving tips that can help you save money on moving expenses.
I have come to find this out the hard way. For years, I have been blessed with an employer that covered all of my moving costs, but this time it is different. This time I am footing the bill by myself.
You may remember that I have been interviewing property managers to help me rent out my current home. So, without my employer helping with this move, I have to find ways to cut costs on moving expenses incurred. The good news is that there are a lot of ways to cut costs on your moving expenses.
Below are some of the top tips for moving that you should be aware of and what I talked about on KGO 810AM.
- Get multiple quotes
- Bribe your friends to help
- Pack yourself
- Get free moving boxes
- Give your stuff away before the move
- Watch out for scammers
- Update your home inventory
- And more…

That was cool. Were you a bit nervous? The interviewer sounds like a fun guy. What a character voice. Congrats.
Yes, I was definitely nevervous. My aunt was picking on my about how many times I said the word, “Absolutely.” I guess I know what my crutch word is now. I’m ABSOLUTELY going to work on it for my next interview. I’d love to do a lot more.
Congrats on the radio interview Hank! That’s awesome! To get some offline exposure for your blog must have been quite satisfying. Did they tell you how they found your blogpost?
They never said, and I never asked. But, I was contacted right after The Conusmerist picked up the blog post and mentioned it. So, I have a guess that’s where it all started.
I’m sure that gained some more readers. Congrats on getting an interview, you know you’re doing SOMETHING right when you are asked for one of those right? 🙂
Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoyed it. It was something that I had never done before. It was good to branch out and step out of the comfort zone. Like Pat Flynn says, a good way to find new readers is to try and be everywhere.
